International Centre for the Arts José de Guimarães has been conceived by the Pitágoras studio to held some events related to Guimarães’ status as European City of Culture 2012– led by partners Fernando Seara de Sá, Raul Roque Figueiredo, Alexandre Coelho Lima and Manuel Vilhena Roque – This exceptional project, using a grid of brass pipes, has created a façade that appears in various shades of gold and bronze depending on the light and the angle one perceives.

This center is home to a permanent collection of works by the local artist José de Guimarães, as well as to studio spaces for young artists and to other flexible art spaces.
This project is a great example of how Architecture can transform its surroundings.
